In the four seasons destination of Collingwood surrounded by the striking backdrop of the escarpment is the Collingwood project. This secluded chalet is located on a vast 70 acres which creates a natural haven influenced by the massive expanse of the escarpment. This project had many initial concerns to keep in line with conservation ideals due to challenging terrain, spacious covering of trees and naturally occurring rock.

The obstacles of this project were used as inspiration to design a retreat that works harmoniously with the elementary landscape. One of the most striking features immediately apparent on the property is a water feature originally included in the plan designed to draw influence using natural rock outcroppings which were key in creating graceful focal points. A concrete spa was introduced into the expanse behind the residence so clients could enjoy the relaxing benefits year round.

Indigenous plants were selected intentionally to create a stunning retreat that can be appreciated in all climates. Large mossy boulders harvested from the surrounding acreage were used to keep an authentic influence. A natural stream running through the property was used as an opportunity to build a garden path which leads from the main structure of the residence down to a swim pond. Special care was used to preserve domed paths in this naturally sensitive area that uses the inherent beauty of the land to create a constant sanctuary.

Lighting was an integral part of planning and used over this substantial project to give the impression of extended daylight to address changing seasons making the property both accessible and enjoyable in all climates.

The intense planning and forethought evolved to create an essence of originality without imposing on the statuesque nature of the initial property.
